feralfruits, Journal, Recipes, Strawberry Guava

Female Tonic

INTRODUCTION

Designed to give women herbal support, but of course it can be supportive for men and non-binary individuals. Nourishing, gentle yet deep, this blend can be taken as you like. A droperfull daily, a drop as needed, or sip over ice in ceremony or celebration.

INGREDIENTS

1 cup strawberry guava, fresh

1/2 cup shatavri, dried

1/2 cup rose petals, fresh ( or 1/4 cup dried)

whole vanilla bean

2 cups vodka, or alcohol of choice

maple syrup, to taste

STEP 1

Wash fresh strawberry guavas, then dry them.

STEP 2

Split vanilla bean in half. Scrape out seeds and place seeds and pod into quart-sized mason jar.

STEP 3

Add strawberry guava, shatavri, rose petals and alcohol to jar. You can choose to add the maple syrup now, or after you have soaked and strained ingredients. Label jar with title and date.

STEP 4

Store in cool, dark, place and shake once per day for one month.

STEP 5

After time has passed for the alcohol to extract the herbs, strain the mixture using a cheese cloth, or equivalent. Be sure to squeeze out all liquid. If you didn’t add maple syrup to the mixture while it was extracting, add now to taste. Roughly 1/2 cup.

STEP 6

Label jar and store in cool, dark place. Use within 1 year.

*note, the photo shows dried schisandra berries in the shell and not shatavri. Dried shatavri is typically white, but it ran away and hid for the photo and couldn’t be found!
