Farm & Living Opportunity
Tucked away in Old Town Wailuku is Savage Farms, an urban oasis that is in need of tending. Sweeping views from Iao Valley to the ocean.

Due to health challenges I’m stepping away and am seeking someone to live in my beautiful 2-bedroom dwelling and tend to the farm.

I recently received an MEO grant and have $20/hour to offer for harvesting wild greens from the on-site farm, as I have obligations to the County to circulate local food in our community and the wild greens in particular are a test pilot project of sorts. This is an opportunity for free farm land, as I have just harvested over 200# of cassava and removed 13 truckloads of green waste so there is ample open space for planting. You are also welcome to bring to market what is already producing abundantly : ulu, star fruit, surinam cherry, avocado, blue butterfly pea flowers, lemon, fig, thai basil, moringa, tulsi basil, curry leaf, and soooooo much more! There is an extensive irrigation system in place.

This artistic home is completely remodeled. Built in 1930 by the local Japanese doctor, it has a fascinating history and I’ve restored original 1930’s light fixtures found in a box in the attic, along with all kinds of custom touches. It comes unfurnished, and only has space for 2 vehicles parked back-to-back.

A wide array of solar panels, 2 Tesla batteries, and solar hot water have you enjoying air conditioning/laundry/cooking/power/etc – I never have a bill, but if you exceed usage you would be expected to pay. There is an attached studio and separate ohana on property as well, both occupied by quiet female professionals.

$3300/month (this is all inclusive for your electric/trash/water/GET – unless you use additional water and electric than previous meter readings and you will cover the difference). There is no additional fee for the land to farm whatever you would like, as well as sell whatever is currently there, and there is the $20/hr budget. Only for people serious about farming.
