Ayurveda cautions to avoid eating the plums on an empty stomach and not to drink milk (or eat milk products) at least one hour before or after eating the fruit. According to Ayurveda, Java Plum has many benefits. It helps with diabetes and hyperglycemia and regulates blood sugar. It’s high in iron, vitamin C, and vitamin A. It fights against bacterial infections. It helps with abdominal pain, anemia, depression, fatigue, cough and asthma. And it’s an aphrodisiac!
INGREDIENTS
1 pound fresh java plums1 cup water2 cinnamon sticks1/2 teaspoon ground allspice1/8 teaspoon ground cloves1/2 teaspoon Himalayan Pink Salt
1 cup dried apricots, chopped1 1 /2 cups coconut sugar1 cup seedless grapes1 cup chopped celery1 large apple, chopped (unpeeled)4 lemon slices, chopped1/2 cup raw sunflower seeds

STEP 1
Place the first group of ingredients into a large saucepan. Bring it to a boil, then lower the heat. Simmer for 10 minutes.
STEP 2
Add the second group of ingredients to the first, except the sunflower seeds. Bring to a boil. Stir, cover, and lower the heat, simmering for 30 minutes.
